Probation Officer

Position Summary:

 A Probation Officer is responsible for supervision of Juvenile and/or Adult persons placed on probation or granted parole by the court. 

Supervision Received: Under the supervision of the Probation Supervisor. 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED Certificate; and
  • Associate Degree in Criminal Justice Administration or Law Enforcement field with two (2) years demonstrated work experience and training in supervisory or management field; (attach certificate); OR
    At least (4) years demonstrated work experience in Behavioral Science field with emphasis in rehabilitative counseling techniques and practices.

    -AND-

    • Must possess and maintain a valid Arizona Driver’s License with no major traffic citations within the last three years.
    • Must submit a 39-month driving record with the employment application.
    • Must pass a criminal background investigation and fingerprint check prior to employment.
    • A physical examination is required upon employment.
    • Must be able to type at least 35 WPM and demonstrate 80% proficiency in grammar, spelling, and math.
    • Based on the department needs, applicants may be required to demonstrate fluency in both the Tohono O’odham Language and English as condition of employment.
