Jury Duty Information

The Tohono O’odham Constitution guarantees all members the right to a jury trial.1 Jurors are necessary to ensure justice for all.

The Tohono O’odham Himdag (way of life) has a long heritage of resolving disputes through group consensus. Jury duty acts the same way for the members selected to decide the outcome of a case. Jury duty is a way for the Tohono O’odham community to be involved in the justice process.

Jurors help protect the Tohono O’odham Nation’s sovereignty by making sure that members of the community decide case outcomes.

All members of the Nation at least 18 years old are eligible to serve as jurors.
